Getting back into it...

Thu Feb 3, 2005, 7:56 PM
I'm starting to get back into AVS again. I dread saying it... but my pack might get released soon. I've just released a beta of a new APE, feel free to test it. Don't distribute it in packs or with presets though as it is a beta.

I cleaned out all of my messages just now cos I had hundreds... sorry if there was anything important... you'll have to note me again.

If anyone needs a tech heavy remix gimme a shout.

I won't be around much for the next 10-12 weeks since i have university to attend

don't expect j10 to arrive anytime soon i'll release it when i get back. still send remixes if you want. the actual pack is finished i just need to build a worthy intro and i think that will be done in 10 weeks time.

since there will be nothing new from me, check it out these guys instead. if you like my work you'll probably like their's too.

J¹º and stuff

j10 is almost complete... just got to wait for the final wa5 and to finish off a few more presets, maybe start some more if I have more ideas. Here are some hints as to what to expect:

More high powered DMs
More 3D particles (with the help of Texer II - thanks UCD)
Volumetric mist/fog effects
Particle systems with fps independent physics (i.e. gravity, collisions)
More complex 3D SSC modelling than previous packs
And much much more matho-codey-tech-ish nonsense, plus some presets that I just think look pretty.

One downside that I'm going to warn you all about in advance is the framerates, some of these presets may not get great framerates if you have <1GHz CPU .. thats just tough cookies, in order to actually do anything vaguely new or innovative the framerates had to drop a bit, just like in the world of real graphics software.. you have to have better hardware to see the better effects. Some of the presets still run at fairly high fps on my crappy 500mhz system though.. so hopefully the download will still be worth it if you own a really crap computer.

If anyone wants to submit remixes of any of my previous work then send them to jheriko@ntlworld.com my favorite artists will be sent pre-release versions of the pack when I actually remember to bring the disks with me.. instead of leaving them at home like a complete plonker.

Break Time

Thu Aug 28, 2003, 8:55 AM
I'm gonna take a break from AVS for a while... I had been working on a massively complicated preset and I need to rebuild it from the ground up... which is frustrating... I'm still working on a few little projects that I've been asked to work on.. as well as the AVS tournament II and the SAP contest.

The only deviations you'll se from me over the next week or so will be 3D renders though... I feel that I can create some great stuff with povray so I'm gonna explore that side of my creativity for a bit.
